About the author

Carlos Arocha, FSA, is an actuarial consultant specializing in risk modeling, machine learning, and climate risk reporting. He is Managing Partner at Arocha & Associates GmbH, a Zurich-based actuarial consulting firm.

Carlos teaches undergraduate financial mathematics, probability, and introductory life contingencies, and has taught at Columbia University in New York and Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico. He volunteers with the Society of Actuaries and mentors students through his alumni community. In recognition of his service to the actuarial profession, he received the SOA Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2018 and 2025.
